Invocation at the Time of Distress – from Saheeh Al-Bukhaari

1741. Narrated Ibn ‘Abbaas (radhi Allaahu anhu) : Allaah’s Messenger (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) used to invoke at the time of distress, saying

Laa ilaaha illal laahu al-‘Azeem, al-Haleem, Laa ilaaha illallahu Rabbul-‘arshil-Azeem, Laa ilaaha illallaahu Rabbus-samaawati wa Rabbul-ardi, wa Rabbul-‘arshil-Kareem“(*)

(*) [H.174] None has the right to be worshipped but Allaah, the Majestic, the Most Forebearing. None has the right to be worshipped but Allaah, the Lord of the Tremendous Throne. None has the right to be worshipped but Allaah, the Lord of the earth and the Lord of the Honourable Throne.

Why would one of you speak of the tricks Satan plays on him

23. Hushaym [ibn Bushayr] narrated to us from abuz-Zubayr from Jaabir (radhi Allaahu anhu) who said,

A man came to the Prophet (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) and said, ‘I dreamt that my head was chopped off.’ The Prophet (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, ‘Why would one of you speak of the tricks Satan plays on him [in his sleep]?’

Easy on the Tongue ,very heavy in the Balance, very dear to the Beneficent

1727. Narrated Aboo Huraira (radhi Allaahu anhu) : The Prophet (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) said,

There are two expressions which are very easy for the tongue to say, but they are very heavy in the balance (of deeds) and are very dear to the Beneficent (Allaah), and they are, ‘Subhaan Allaahi Al-Azeem and Subhaan Allaahi wa bihamdihi.(*)’ “

As the Man grows old So also his two desires grow old

621. Narrated Anas bin Malaik (radhi Allaahu anhu) : Allaah’s Messenger (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) said,

The son of Adam (i.e.,man) grows old and so also two (desires) grow old with him, (and they are); love for wealth and (a wish for) a long life.”

The Superiorities In Islaam And Which of The Deeds Are Superior

24. Narrated ‘Abdullaah bin ‘Amr (radhi Allaahu anhu) :

A man asked the Prophet (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam),

Whose Islaam is good, or what sort of deeds (or what qualities) of Islaam are good?

The Prophet (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wa sallam) replied,

To feed (others) and to greet those whom you know and those whom you do not know.
