The Complete, Whole Body Fast

During a conference [four] years ago, we came across the statement of Shaikh Saleh Al-Ash-Shaikh (hafidhahullaah), who said:

“Our fasting should have an impact on our limbs.

Jabir ibn Abdullaah (radiallaahu ‘anhu) said:

When you fast, your hearing has to fast, your sight has to fast, your tongue has to fast. …And do not make your fasting day like your normal day.

This is the complete fast.”

Performing ‘Umra in Ramadaan is equal to Hajj (in reward)

786. Narrated Ibn ‘Abbaas (radhi Allaahu anhu) :

Allaah’s Messenger (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) asked an Ansaari woman, “What prevented you from performing Hajj with us?” She replied, “We have a camel and the father of so-and-so and his son (i.e. her husband and her son) rode it and left one camel for us to use for irrigation.” He said (to her), “Perform ‘Umra when Ramadaan comes, for ‘Umra in Ramadaan is equal to Hajj (in reward)” or said something similar.

Start fasting in Ramadaan with the sighting of new moon and to finish with the sighting of new moon

653. Narrated ‘Abdullaah bin ‘Umar (radhi Allaahu anhu) : Allaah’s Messenger (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) mentioned
Ramadaan and said,

Do not observe Saum (fast) unless you see the crescent (of Ramadaan), and do not give up Saum till you see the crescent (of Shawwaal), and if the sky is overcast (if you cannot see the crescent), then act on estimation (i.e. count Sha’baan as thirty days).

Not to Observe Saum for a day or two ahead of Ramadaan

657. Narrated Aboo Huraira (radhi Allaahu anhu) : The Prophet (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) said,

None of you should observe Saum (fast) for a day or two ahead of Ramadaan, unless he has the habit of observing  Saum (Nawaafil), (and if his Saum coincides with that day) then he can observe Saum that day.
